Create a Sexy Dance Space in Your Home

So you’re hunkered down now and wanting NEEDING to dance, but feeling uninspired to move at home?

That’s valid.

You don’t need a lot of space or money to create an inviting at-home dance studio to get you through quarantine. A little bit of intention and creativity can go a long way. Here’s how:

1 – CHOOSE AN AREA IN YOUR HOME

This may sound obvious, but pick a spot within your home that’s going to be your place to dance. If you’re constantly having to worry about where you’re going to sneak in a dance session it’s likely not gonna happen at all. So choose an area to designate as your movement space and let’s put some love into it.

Don’t worry if you have a small or busy area, you can work with what you’ve got.

2 – CLEAN IT

Clean it in ALL THE WAYS!

Remove any clutter.

Scrub scrub scrub until you’ve made it sparkle.

Sage the area as a way to welcome new energy, set an intention, and communicate gratitude for the repurposed space.

If you’re going to be dancing in a multi-functional space where clutter is unavoidable (think kid’s play area, garage, etc) make sure it’s out of the way and do your best to keep it organized and/or covered.

When our space is clean and clear it allows our mind to relax and we have a better chance to get out of our head and into our body.

3 – PLAY WITH LIGHTING

When it comes to creating a mood, lighting is everything.

Want to feel energized for a morning stretch?

Open the curtains to infuse your space with natural light.

Want to create a sexy sanctuary worthy of some dirty floor fuckery?

Opt for low lighting in warm tones.

You can also play with colored lights! Our favorite is deep red 😉

This single multi-color bulb is a fun easy way to experiment with lighting:

And never underestimate the power of candlelight. The more candles the better.

4 – MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Add in the elements that make your space the most inviting for the way YOU want to dance.

Our faves:

Music – You know we all about that bass and this is one of our favorite blue tooth speakers.

Mirrors – Because you gotta see your gorgeous self dancing around your new sexy space.

Pole: We love X-Pole, it’s what we use in our studios and recommend to all our students.

Phone standthis stand is the CAT’S MEOW. We’ve tried SO many and this one is great for the flexibility in how you can use it. It stays level and gives your moves a great angle!

5 – SWITCH IT UP

Create a ritual that signifies the shift from regular-home-space-that-you’re-used-to into dance haven. This is especially important if you’re using a multi-use area. When it’s time to dance:

    • Change the lighting.
    • Diffuse a sexy essential oil. Our favorites are Black Pepper, Ginger, and Sandalwood. And this diffuser makes us swoon.
    • And not space related but worth a mention – Change your outfit! Doesn’t have to be fancy, just different. Something that signals to your brain IT’S TIME TO DANCE!
